Torquay & District Horticultural Society
RHS Affiliated

TDHS   (UPDATED  Nov. 2017)

The Society is for people both within and outside Torbay who are interested in gardens and plants.

  • Our aim is to promote gardening as a creative, educational and artistic pastime, to inspire a taste for horticultural knowledge and to make that knowledge available to as many people as possible and also to hold  meetings, garden visits and any event which promotes the Society’s aims.
  • We meet regularly in Torquay from Winter/Spring and Autumn for twelve or thirteen talks on plants, gardens and gardening, as well as related wildlife, travel and ecology. At most meetings there are also competitions for floral art, fruit / vegetables, and indoor and outdoor flowers and plants.
  • We occasionally arrange coach trips. (see Coach Trips page).
  • We also hold  social events during the year: a lunch in late Winter/early Spring and a Christmas Social (see Events page). Additional ad hoc events of social and/or horticultural interest may be arranged during the year so keep an eye out!
• Annual subscription (due January) is £20 per annum, which includes newsletters and free entry to the Society's talks.
To join, come along to a meeting or contact the Membership Secretary (see Contact Us page)

• Non-members are welcome to attend the talks for a £5 entrance fee. Whether you are on holiday or want to see what the Society is like before joining, we would be delighted to welcome you.
